We won't go into detail here on wood differences. Visit the about wood section for that. We will just talk pricing and options here. Certainly other woods can be used, but these are the most common species we use and the associated cost. We have tried to include an example picture for each species. Some are missing. Sorry but we'll get them up soon.

We are currently offering the following inlay options:

Mother of Pearl dot inlays on the fretboard with dot side markers. - No extra charge.

Abalone dot inlays on the fretboard with dot side markers. - Add $10

Now let's talk about carved tops. Carving a guitar's top can really enhance the overall appearance, feel and performance of the guitar. Many players prefer it just for looks and feel alone. Some players prefer it for comfort. Carving can also open up some interesting grain patterns on even the plainest of wood. It's all a matter of taste. Carving a top provides a classy look to many guitar shapes, but is not well suited for others. Results are much better on a more symmetrical and round body shape than on some odd shaped body with long lines or harsh angles.

We carve our tops by hand, which allows us to really get a good feel of when it's just right. We do not leave any hard lines in the carving process because it looks cheap and machine made. Click here to see an example of a carved top.

Carving the top will add $200 to the cost of the guitar.
